Alternatively known as Market Street Tower, CapitaGreen is a 40-storey corporate office building which provides Class A modern office spaces that are both functional and aesthetic in the heart of Singapore’s CBD. Located at 138 Market Street, this office tower features an architectural concept that expands the earth’s surface throughout the building’s other features.
This unconventional design aims to achieve the Green Mark Platinum award, the highest accolade in recognising environmentally-friendly buildings from the Building & Construction Authority of Singapore. Since it was established, CapitaGreen’s environmentally sustainable design received several local and international awards, including Best Tall Building (Asia and Australasia) 2015 by The Council on Tall Buildings and Urban Habitat.
CapitaGreen is primarily an environment-friendly facility. It has an energy-saving system that reintroduces lush greenery into modern architecture; through the use of double-skin high-performance glass and extensive vertical greenery, the building minimises heat gain. At the same time, the building has high ceilings to better utilise natural lighting. The building also has an installed Cool Void; it is a petal-like structure at the crown of the building which draws in cooler air, reducing the amount of energy needed to power its in-house cooling system.
Upon entering CapitaGreen, guests are greeted by art sculptures in the building’s sheltered public plaza. Notably, there’s greenery on each floor as well as the exterior of the building and there is a roof garden in the sky terrace with 40 different kinds of trees and shrubs. Among the trees, there’s a restaurant which provides tenants and guests a “sky forest” dining experience.
This modern office tower also has a convenient location for transportation and accessing amenities. It is near the Raffles Place MRT interchange station and Telok Ayer MRT station; it also has a cycling path with bicycle lots and racks for those who cycle to work.
